The HCG Diet And Vitamins
While on the HCG Diet Plan, many have had questions about vitamins and if they are still able to take them. First things first, you should always consult your physician before starting or stopping any supplements. That being said, it’s best to postpone your vitamin supplementation while on the HCG Diet Plan, especially during the strict calorie reduction phase.
For most of us, the reason for taking supplements is to feed our bodies with the vitamins that we are lacking because of our less than ideal diets. Usually we aren’t thinking about what else is lurking in our vitamins. Surprisingly, there are hidden calories, sugars, starches and oils that can seriously interfere with your weight loss goals.
How do I get the vitamins my body needs without supplements?
The late Endocrinologist Dr. Simeons was the one who discovered the weight loss benefits of Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) in the 1950’s. He went on to inform his patients that were worried that they would become anemic or unhealthy if they stopped taking their vitamins and restricted their diet, saying, “…every time they lose a pound of fatty tissue, which they do almost daily, only the actual fat is burned up; all the vitamins, the proteins, the blood, and the minerals which this tissue contains in abundance are fed back into the body.”
Ultimately, our bodies will get the nutrients it needs from our stored fat and the foods that we are eating while on the HCG Diet Plan. Although, if you are currently experiencing poor dental health, calcium and vitamin D will be allowed or if you come down with a cold, vitamin C will be permitted, just as long as they aren’t composed of an oily solution. Another exception is if your practitioner wants to prescribe vitamin B12 injections to help increase energy levels which is very common while using HCG. With any of the allowed vitamins, look for non-oily, non-capsule, pill forms with no other ingredients listed and no nutritional values like calories, sugars and carbs.
Get your vitamins the right way
While on a calorie restricted diet like the HCG Diet Plan, you’ll be eating a large amount of vegetables and lean proteins and by doing so, you’ll be getting all those nutrients you were supplementing your diet with by taking vitamins in the first place. All in all, regardless of if you are taking HCG drops or not, we should all strive to get all of our vitamins by eating a healthy diet full of whole natural foods and spending some enjoyable time outside.
