Grilling Season Recipe Thai Chicken Burgers: HCG Diet Phase 2
With the weather starting to warm up in most of the country, BBQ season will soon be upon us. Nothing is better than being outside with plenty of sunshine, family, friends and good food. However, with a range of foods and sugary drinks on offer, many people give in to the temptation and lose sight of their diet goals during BBQ season. With some preparation on your end, you can forgo any cheating and not sabotage your progress while on the HCG diet.
During Phase 2 you’ll be restricted to only 500 calories per day. Thankfully, the daily HCG will help control your appetite and hunger by allowing the body to use already stored fat as calories throughout the day. This phase is very basic, and limited to the types of foods that you can eat. You’ll have to eat very little fat, moderate carbohydrates, moderate protein, drink plenty of water, and continue HCG.
These delicious Thai Chicken Burgers are easy to make and extremely flavorful. For your meal planning during the HCG diet Phase 2, you can double the recipe and freeze the patties for a future meal. Just thaw at room temperature before grilling or pan frying.
Thai Chicken Burgers with Sauteed Basil Spinach Topper
Ingredients
Burger:
- 8 oz ground chicken
- 1 tbsp fresh chopped mint
- 2 tbsp red curry paste
- 1 tbsp fat free chicken broth
- 1 tsp garlic minced
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
Spinach Topping:
- 4 cups spinach
- 2 tsp water
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp pepper
- 1 tsp garlic minced
- 1 cup basil chopped
Instruction
Squeeze the excess liquid from the ground chicken by squeezing it in a mesh sieve. You can use a doubled up paper towel here also. Just do this slowly. Mix the burger ingredients together by hand then form into 2 patties. Grill for 7 minutes on each side.
For the spinach topping, place the spinach, water, salt, pepper and garlic to a saute pan. Saute over medium heat till just slightly wilted, add the chopped basil, then remove from heat. You won’t be using oil or butter here due to the Phase 2 restrictions.
Microwave option for the spinach topping: In a large microwavable bowl, combine spinach, salt, pepper and garlic. Cover with plastic wrap but leave one corner open slightly. Microwave for 3 minutes. Stir cooked spinach, add chopped basil and stir again.
Divide the spinach mixture between the two burgers. Grab a fork and knife and enjoy while still warm!
